YesTV is expanding for the 08/09 school year! Check back for blog updates and video posts from the class!

The Youth Voice program recently expanded at the Youth Empowerment School (YES) and is now creating an exciting youth-led production department called YesTV. We are thrilled to be joined by Ms. N’Jeri Eaton, the new classroom teacher for the program. Ms. Eaton currently teaches two other video production classes in Oakland and will help the students take the reigns of YesTV.

Youth Voice empowers students to explore and shape their own ideas by creating media about their communities. Watch what happens when you give students cameras and challenge them to articulate their interests, opinions, and solutions.

Students in the Youth Voice program are creating an in-house production department at the Youth Empowerment School, called YesTV. Crews of students create short video "pods" about the culture, identity, and issues affecting their school and the wider community, which they share during assemblies and over the web. YesTV marks an major expansion of the Youth Voice program, which has been offered at the YES school since 2005.
